Children's Play Area
For The Kids :
To the rear of the pub is an open grassy area where you will find a climbing
frame and picnic tables. From here you can watch your kids play on
the swings whilst you partake in a drink (or two) and maybe something to eat! |
Situated just a few hundred yards off the A164 (see village map), the Halfmoon Inn is a popular venue for locals as well as visitors to the village. Built over three hundred and thirty years ago as a coaching inn, it is rumoured that some of the original brickwork is made up of material from Hull's old city wall. Renowned for its 'man-sized' filled Yorkshire Puddings, the Halfmoon Inn is a friendly pub which boasts a number of activities throughout the week including live music and quiz nights. A fine selection of beers, wines and spirits are available over the bar. More recently, Sam & Chris have introduced a new selection of ales & guest ales including Old Speckled Hen, Theakston's Old Peculiar and Black Sheep. There is a tap-room to the side, where small parties and functions can be held - a buffet service is available if food is required. The food at the Half Moon has always had a good reputation, but I have to say (from personal experience) that it has got a whole lot better since it came under Chris & Sam's management. Yorkshire Puddings are still on the menu, but you can also get a selection of alternative homemade traditional fayre. Recently, we have seen the introduction of a 'Steak Night' when there are a selection of cuts of steak on offer including sirloin, rump, t-bone, fillet and gammon - Your preferred cut is served up with HUGE homemade steak-chips, mushrooms, peas and a slice of tomato. Live entertainment is also laid on to set the atmosphere. However, these evenings are very popular and tables are by reservation only. A daily changing specials board is on display offering the option of something a little different from the standard menu
